Avengers Assemble At Disney Parks

Avengers Campus

Marvel’s The Avengers want you to Assemble. Strictly speaking, they want your credit card to assemble, but they’ll welcome you along for the ride.

The previously announced news that Marvel’s characters would join the famous parks was confirmed at today’s D23 expo, where they gave more information on the upcoming super-hero lands.

The Disney Parks blog announced:

“When guests visit Avengers Campus, they will become part of an interconnected, global story that spans from California to Paris to Hong Kong with the Avengers recruiting new extraordinary people to join them.”

Avengers Campus will open at various Disney theme parks in California and Paris, joining the just-opened Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction to lure in geeks. They will will incorporate the existing Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! and a new Spider-Man attraction that will invite “new recruits to “suit up” alongside Spider-Man with the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB).”

The first phase of the Anaheim Avengers Campus is expected to open in 2020, so you’d better start saving your pennies or deciding which part of your soul you’ll hand to Disney now.

Avengers 4 Trailer Is Here And We Have A Title…

avengers 4

Okay, I know why you’re here, so…

I’d say that’s the very definition of a teaser trailer: our heroes are definitely on the ropes, but they have a cunning plan and… wait… here’s Hawkeye and Ant-Man to save the day, the universe… and multiple franchises.

Oh, and Avengers: Endgame it is, which, I’m not so wild about, but I guess it does what it says on the tin.

Are we excited yet…? I know, I know, silly question.

Avengers: Endgame opens May 3, 2019. It’s possible we’ll all be going to see it, I guess…

Avengers: Infinity War Takes All The Money

Thanos

The past few weeks has seen those of us interested in playing ‘guess the box office’ trying to figure out how much money Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War would make on its opening weekend. It turns out to be all the money.

While confidence seemed high on the film’s success and no one really thought it would bomb, few could have guessed it would smash two records.

Domestically, in the U.S.A., the film has romped past the previous record holder, fellow Disney stablemate Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which landed $247.9 million in 2015. The Marvel epic has brought home a comfortable $250 million, making it the new all-time opening weekend box office winner.

Internationally, it’s an even more impressive haul. 2017’s The Fate of the Furious pulled in $543 million, while Thanos and his quest for the Infinity Stones has sailed past to a breathtaking $630 million, setting another all-time record (even without opening in China and Russia, while Fate did, making it all the more impressive).

This is a truly astonishing feat for what amounts to the 19th film in an inter-connected series of franchises known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As part of the pre-release hype for the film, Marvel launched the hashtag #ThanosDemandsYourSilence to head off potential spoilers for this bravely bleak blockbuster. Maybe it should have said #ThanosDemandsYourMoney

Here Comes Thanos! The Final Avengers: Infinity Wars Is Rather Exciting.

thanos

There’s really not a heck of a lot I can say about this trailer. If you’re not down for Marvel’s All-Star Mash Up by now then there’s probably nothing more here to convince you. You are hopelessly wrong, of course.

For the rest of us, April 27th really can’t arrive quickly enough as Avengers: Infinity War is the beginning of the culmination of ten years of narrative and the chance to see all of Marvel’s flagship characters facing off against the big, bad and purple cosmic Trump, Thanos (as played by Josh Brolin). And seen here? Spider-Man and Dr.Strange, together on screen for the first time! Oh boy! Captain America going mano y mano with Thanos! Gosh!

Marvel have gotten particularly adept and not blowing their wads in trailers and this still feels mighty restrained to me. What do you think? Are Marvel still playing their cards close to their chests?

I’ll see you in the theater in just over a month. I’ll be the one hyper-ventilating.

Epic! The Avengers: Infinity War Trailer Is Here…

The trailer for Avengers: Infinity War has landed and, wow… you need to see this:

I know, right!?

It’s not the same trailer that wowed audiences at this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con (yes, yes, I peaked at the leaked version) but if anything it feels even more epic.

Rumours are running rife that this may be the last time we see some of these characters (at least in their present forms), so better make the most of… hm, well, that would be telling, right!? In the meantime, we can look forward to the ultimate Marvel Cinematic Universe mash-up of The Avengers, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy as they face up against the Josh Brolin-shaped cosmic might of Thanos.

Avengers: Infinity War arrives May 8th, 2018. The hype starts here…
