Tom Hardy IS Venom… Just Not In This Teaser Trailer

venom-1024x390

Sony’s forthcoming film Venom is the damnedest thing: a Spider-Man-less (probably) spin-off from the Spider-Man universe, featuring a none-more-90s villain. With that description I’d have very little interest in seeing this film.

But then they went and cast Tom Hardy in the title role along with Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed in support and frankly, my interest began to rise. That’s an intriguing group of actors.

Now the studio has released the first teaser trailer from the film and it’s, well, see for yourselves…

I know, right!? It’s all pretty generic and very Venom-free, not even a hint of the titular character. It doesn’t so much tease as just glide by. Maybe the film will be good? There’s certainly no way to tell from this.

If we’re really lucky Hardy will decide to use his Bane voice at the last moment and mess with everyone’s heads.

Venom, directed by Ruben Fleischer, arrives on October 5th.

Back With A Punch – Jessica Jones Season 2 Trailer

jj2

So it’s not really any great incite to say that while Marvel’s cinematic output has hit a lot of home runs, its TV offerings have been of far more variable quality. From the great (Daredevil Season 2) to the not-so-great (hello, Iron Fist). Jessica Jones fell firmly within the former camp and now we have the first, full trailer for season two.

Thankfully the trailer shows a great deal of promise, as we are teased the secret origin of Jessica Jones (without all the tedious world-building that usually has to be done with origin stories).

Of course, this is a just a trailer and the Netflix show is still thirteen episodes – the bane of many of the Marvel/Netflix shows to date… what’s wrong with shorter seasons anyway!? But let’s hold our collective breath and hope this a return to form.

Jessica Jones season two drops March 8th on Netflix, if we’re lucky it will be bingeworthy.

“You in…?” Disney Finally Proves Solo Is An Actual Movie

solo

With all the industry scuttlebutt that’s been hanging over the production of Solo – A Star Wars Story (Miller and Lord being fired from directorial duties at the eleventh hour, incoming director Ron Howard seemingly reshooting swathes of material) , and with so little little visible evidence of the actual film (we’re just three months from this sucker arriving at our local multiplexes, for goodness’ sake) it was beginning to feel like we were being sold a fake bill of goods.

But now, just to prove cynical old naysayers like myself wrong, here’s an actual trailer and proof that Solo is a film and really exists. See for yourself…

See? Alden Ehrenreich really is playing Young Harrison Ford and Donald Glover really is Young Billy Dee Williams. Woody Harrelson is playing Grizzled Old Career Criminal and Emilia Clarke is The Woman (hopefully her role will be better than that but not judging from this first trailer).

Difficult to tell from this whether this actually real movie will be any good after all the backstage shenanigans, but Howard is – at the very least – a steady pair of hands.

We’ll be able to judge for ourselves when the film really does hit cinemas in just over 90 days…
